I do not travel light. If it was up to me and we lived in a world where weight limits and size restrictions did not exist, I would literally pack my whole life into a case. However, unfortunately the limitations of budget air travel do mean I have to pick and choose what to take. This has led me to find some of my favourite health and beauty products to travel with, which help me keep my routine whilst on the move. Here are some of my favs that you should check out the next time you’re going away!
A.Vogel Natural Insect Repellent
Don’t let annoying insect bites ruin your travels! It’s important to pack a good insect repellent as there’s nothing worse than itching all day and night, and bitten legs aren’t a great look either. I’ve been using the A.Vogel Natural Insect Repellent at home recently as there’s been loads of annoying midges (Scottish translation; tiny annoying flies) around. It doesn’t contain DEET like many other repellents do, which is synthetic and can be potentially harmful. Instead it uses extracts from the Neem tree to provide a natural way of detracting insects. It also smells lovely and doesn’t have that potent, chemically scent that many repellents do! You can buy it here.
A.Vogel Hair Complex Tablets
I always over indulge on holidays and eat and drink far too much (who doesn’t). So it’s good to try and keep an element of health with a vitamin. I love using the A.Vogel hair complex tablets all year round to keep my hair, skin and nails in top condition, but they are handy enough to travel with too! You can buy them here.
Liz Earle Botanical Aftersun Gel
I’ve been blessed with Scottish skin that just doesn’t tan. I tend to go from white > red > white (thank god for fake tan), so burning is pretty much a given if I’m in a sunny climate. Every time on holiday I try my hardest to tan and convince myself my skin will magically go a deep brown, but I usually just end up with sun burn and regret. The Liz Earle Botanical Aftersun Gel has been a life saver and I’ve never found another after-sun that compares to it. It’s a super cooling gel that instantly soothes inflamed, burned skin whilst deeply moisturising. It contains aloe vera, cucumber, lavender and naturally sourced vitamin E which helps prevent that horrible itchy, tight feeling. If you’re prone to sun burn, you need to try this!
Silk Sleeping Bag Liner
Not technically a health or beauty product, but sleep is essential for both?! Silk sleeping bags are a saviour when you need to sleep in questionable places, especially in hot countries where insects lurk. I took a silk sleeping bag liner when I visited Vietnam last year, and it came in especially handy in Halong Bay when we slept on a beach! Sleeping bag liners will keep out the creepy crawlies and protect you from nasty bites whilst you’re sleeping. I recommend the Nod Pod Silk Sleeping Bag Liner.
Garnier After Sun Sheet Mask
The burned red raw face look isn’t a good one, especially when it starts to dry up and peel. Get cooled down after a long day in the sun with the Garnier After Sun Sheet Mask, which delivers deep moisture and hydration. It helps enhance a tan too!
Bumble & Bumble Surf Hair Spray
I can never be bothered to do my hair properly on holiday, especially when it’s very hot. The last thing you want to be doing is adding to the heat with straighteners or curlers! For beachy waves with minimal effort, try towel drying hair and spraying Bumble & Bumble Surf Hair Spray throughout. The sea salt spray adds volume, texture and hold for matt beachy waves. It can be used on dry hair too and comes in a handy 50ml size for on the go. Buy it here.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Gradual Tan Moisturiser
As I’ve said, I really don’t tan naturally very well, so gradual tan moisturiser is one of my holiday essentials. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Gradual Tan Moisturiser is one of my all time favs. It smells amazing and doesn’t have that biscuity fake tan scent to it. You can build you tan up over time so you don’t go from ghost > mahogany overnight, and it looks really natural. It also comes in a spray bottle which is handy if you’re in a rush. Buy it here.
Soleil Tan De Chanel
Soleil Tan De Chanel is my favourite ever bronzer. It’s so creamy and gives you a lovely subtle glow, whilst providing light coverage too. This makes it great for on holiday as you can ditch the foundation if you’re just wanting a lightweight tan coverage, and it lasts really well too. Buy it here.
Phizz Rehydration + Vitamins and Minerals Tablets
Hot days and long nights drinking on holiday can sometimes leave you feeling a little worse for wear the next day… I’ve been there many times. I hate spending time inside a hotel room when the sun is out and there’s exploring to do! One of the Phizz Rehydration Tablets gives you a little boost of vitamin goodness to help you through your hungover, sleepy day. These little tablets are a zesty orange flavour and give your body all the vitamins and minerals it needs to get on with your day. Buy them here.
Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo
Washing, drying and styling your hair are those things you don’t really want to spending loads of time on whilst travelling. I couldn’t live without dry shampoo for those days in-between wash, and it’s no different on holiday! I love all Moroccanoil products, but this dry shampoo (available in a range of tones) is one of my favs. It’s lightweight and refreshes hair without leaving that unmanageable white build up that some dry shampoos tend to leave. It also smells amazing! Try it out in a travel size and I’m sure you will then be buying it full size for all year round! You can get it here.
